Your wireless antenna and wifi antennas are the biggest link to successfully staying connected!

Wireless antennas must be focused or aimed at the nearest cell phone tower, so the link above will help you find your in your area.
If your going to install a directional antenna like a Yagi, it would help to know which general direction to aim it in, right?
Wireless antennas are not really wireless, but refer to the devices they support such as your cell phone, mobile phone, PDA, laptop, etc.
Yagi antennas work best in a fringe area for cell phone reception! Yagi antennas are great solutions for a base station because they can "capture" and lock onto a weak signal and send it to your phone. An external cell phone antenna for fringe area reception is the most important step to buying an antenna because the cell phone antenna needs to be the best one available for this type of remote service area.
The proper antenna will be critical to making and holding a connection!
A yagi antenna is most often used because these provide a more stable connection since they can be focused on the target. In this case a cell phone broadcasting tower! Yagi antennas can zero in on these easily and more accurately because their radiation pattern does not go out in a 360 degree radius from the antenna!
In other words, they "focus" their signal capturing strength in one general direction! Many people have found that they do not require an amplifier when using these antennas as long as they can accept a wire directly attached to their cell phone.
The next link will show you the picture pattern of a yagi antenna working on the cellular band of 855MHz. Keep in mind that this link takes you to the entire section of antenna radiation patterns.
The first pattern you see will be of an omni-beam and the second picture will be of a yagi. It is really important to read the text all the way through since there is a big difference between the two. These pages will show you how to aim or focus your antenna properly. Read carefully because there is a big benefit you will find there!
You can use your cell phone as an antenna signal analyser to properly aim your cell phone antenna!
The pages at the link will explain in detail how to do this!

Repeaters are a type of wireless antenna.
As I mentioned before, a lot of people I know and met have chosen to purchase and install antenna repeaters because they do not require a direct connection to your wireless device. You are free to move about the room or area while the repeater stays locked on to YOU and keeps you connected!
These have a usable range of approximately 1500 feet, but most tell me they work best at 800 feet and less. Still quite a range of movement while on your mobile or cell phone while using it. This works great for the homeowner in a fringe area for signal strength who doesn't want to be locked in to having one location suitable for using their devices.
A direct connection is best for those who have a small office either in their home, but most often in an RV where a dedicated area for the laptop computer and mobile phone is most desireable because of the small living space where making the best use of space is important.
