Satellite phone antenna systems vs cell phone antennas.

Satellite phone antenna systems and cell phone antenna systems are not compatible!

But they can be complimentary because many satellite phones out now also have cell phone capabilities. These are dual purpose phones for those who's jobs or businesses take them to remote locations where they MUST be able to make or take calls.

Such locations would be an out at sea oil platform for example. An employee of a crude oil company who doesn't stay out at sea, but has to go back and forth to a land base would be a great example. Maybe a cruise ship who goes out to sea for long voyages and also stays docked at land for a while.

Both of these situations would require a satellite phone with cell phone capabilities. These phone would NOT be able to make a cell phone call with a satellite antenna though. All dual service phones will have 2 different types of antennas for the one phone.

Satellite phone antennas can be mounted to any moving vehicle.

But the requirements for having a clear view of the sky do not change. If your in your car for example and you are on a satellite phone while going through a tunnel, your call will not be dropped like a cell phone call would, but you would be interrupted until you came outside of the tunnel.

Once your satellite antenna had another clear view of the sky, your original connection would be re-established and your conversation could go on as usual.

Most satellite phone antennas can start at $95.00 and go up to $2500.00 or even more depending on the application!

An oil rig platform or a cruise ship would want to have the more expensive antenna system because of the corrosion resistance of the marine satellite antenna.

Just remember that if you need a satellite phone and an external antenna as well, these are a totally different type of antenna and you should ask your satellite phone provider for one of these where you would get your satellite phone.

A cell phone store is highly unlikely to carry it! There will be a link at the bottom of this page to direct you to the satellite phone section. To go from satellite phone antenna to the satellite phone section, click here. BlueTooth 80% off.
